A team of Kempsey High students competed in the Australian Intercollegiate Meat Judging Competition during the recent Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza. The on-the-hook competition includes light and heavy domestic beef carcass judging, primal identification and beef short loin identification.
In the oral judging, which requires students to describe and judge cattle, Ayla Holmes was 3rdin the 14 years, Rachael Bednarz was 5thin the 15 years and Josh Heuston was 5thin the 16 years. Kempsey High won the prize among the 32 school entrants for adding the most weight to our steer. Over 126 days, Scone put on 211kg or the equivalent of 1.67kg. / day.
